Scout NAPLAN reports

NAPLAN test results play an important role in providing teachers and educational leaders with information on students’ literacy and numeracy learning.

The NAPLAN reports in Scout have been optimised to report on the four NAPLAN proficiency levels introduced in 2023.

The Student and Class reports allow teachers to focus on the NAPLAN performance of individual students and classes or student groups.

The Student summary shows the performance of an individual student across all domains.

Teachers can drill down in the Student item analysis report to analyse a students’ responses for each NAPLAN item they were presented and their scores on each writing criterion.

While the School Item Analysis report drills down to the item level for selected cohorts. It shows each item’s alignment to NSW syllabus outcomes and learning progressions, and links to teaching strategies to support teachers to take action in response to the data.

The Class report shows the spread of student achievement across domains for a class or selected group of students.

Teachers can use the information in the student reports to identify focus areas for further investigation and targeted teaching.

School leaders and DELs can view the School performance reports for a high-level overview of NAPLAN results, including optional demographic filters to select student groups.

The Cohort proficiency report shows the percentage of students in each NAPLAN proficiency level for a selected assessment and domain. Comparisons can be made to both Statistically Similar School Groups (or SSSG) and the State. The report offers multiple views for different purposes. For example, the Domain view is recommended when looking at performance across domains.

The Cohort score report shows the average performance of students in a selected NAPLAN assessment and domain over time, compared to both the SSSG and the State. When triangulated with other data, this information may assist in identifying the success of current teaching strategies or school improvement initiatives.

The Reading and Numeracy guided data package and Value Added Report can be accessed in the sidebar navigation.

The resources tab contains a SSSG list to view statistically similar schools for the calendar year. Proficiency descriptions for each domain in each NAPLAN assessment can also be viewed here.
