The EFSG defines the standards and requirements associated with designing and delivering new school facilities or the upgrades of existing educational facilities.
The EFSG ensures that every school project meets the necessary standards to support great teaching and learning for students and teachers wherever they are located across the state.
The EFSG 2.0 and its accompanying Technical Standards are the latest guidelines and are required for all new-builds and refurbishments in NSW schools.
For all projects whose funding ( i.e. business case) was approved prior to 30 March 2023, the EFSG 1.0 applies.
Past versions of SI’s Infrastructure Standards will remain accessible for reference.
We are in the process of improving the EFSG. The DoE has received feedback that the information has not been well structured and is not responsive enough to industry practice.
We have an EFSG Reform team who are tasked with bringing the EFSG into 2025 and beyond. This work is currently underway. To find out more about the EFSG Reform project go to Future of the EFSG.
The current version of the EFSG is v2.0 and it’s accompanying Technical Standards.
