Eligibility criteria

For an applicant to be eligible to apply for a Teach and Learn Scholarship (High Demand Subject Areas) in mathematics, physics, engineering studies, agriculture, industrial technology - metal and/or industrial technology - timber, they must:

  1. be an Australian citizen or permanent resident
  2. have a current permanent full-time teaching approval with the NSW Department of Education
  3. have a minimum of one-year full-time equivalent teaching experience, or have completed 203 casual/temporary teaching days
  4. be enrolled in or committed to enrolling in studies for Semester 1, 2025, that will meet the department’s and NESA’s academic requirements
  5. be supported by a recommendation from their current school principal and one other referee
  6. be willing to enter into a Scholarship Agreement, a legally binding agreement that outlines the responsibilities of both the scholarship recipient and the department
  7. be willing to complete the required studies within the maximum 2-year period
  8. be willing to accept appointment as a permanent full-time teacher in a NSW public school on completion of studies, or remain in their current permanent appointment if they are working in a NSW public central school or high school, for a minimum period of 3 years.
