Using picture books for intercultural understanding

Using picture books to support intercultural education for all learners.

When developing intercultural understandings, picture books can be both a:

  • window into other cultures, providing a view of the world through a different lens, and
  • a mirror that reflects back the experiences of other people, which, through reflection, can help the reader better understand themselves and their own perspectives (Dolan, 2014 and Corapi and Short, 2015).
