Armidale, a rural farming town in the New England belt of NSW, welcomed 800 Ezidi refugee families into their neighbourhood a few years ago. In comparison to Iran, the homeland of the Ezidi people, Armidale is a safe place.

However, over time the local schools became concerned with how children and families were travelling to and from school. Recognising road safety is a shared responsibility, Armidale Secondary College and Ben Venue Public School worked together to produce this brilliant video for use by the whole community using the Kurmanji dialect, with English subtitles.

The Department of Education's Road Safety Education team, Transport for NSW, l and local groups discussed and consolidated plans of how each agency could help to address the community’s road safety concerns.

This video clip is an initiative of the secondary college and primary school working together to share this information with their school community and local TAFE communities.
