Oxley Vale Public School north of Tamworth held a whole-school ANZAC Day assembly with family and community members.

Year 1 and 2 students presented a song in words and sign language ‘Thank You to Our Soldiers’,

Year 4 presented ‘ANZAC Day’, a poem by Drewson Hunter, the Year 3 and 4 Singing Group presented ‘True Blue’, and the school band played the hymn ‘Abide With Me’.

Principal Jodie Bishop said for us at Oxley Vale Public School, ANZAC Day provided an opportunity to teach our students the importance of remembering the past while shaping the future.

“It’s a reminder of how we can come together as a community, just as the ANZACs did, to face challenges and support each other,” she said.

“The values of resilience, courage, and mateship are ones we carry with us in everything we do—whether it’s dealing with personal challenges, working hard in school, or getting through tough times.

“Our ANZAC assembly gives us a moment to pause and think about the ANZACs—who they were, what they did, and what they stood for to remind us all that our actions—whether big or small—can help to build a better tomorrow."
