The Minns Labor Government is making progress on its commitment to deliver a new high school for Leppington and Denham Court, with the plans now on exhibition for community feedback.
A Review of Environmental Factors (REF) has been made available for public viewing until 20 March, and the community is invited to view and provide feedback on the proposal.
The new high school will be co-located with Leppington Public School on a site at 128-134 Rickard Rd, Leppington, and is due to open Day 1, Term 1, 2027.
It will feature 51 classrooms to support 1,000 students, specialist workshops for a range of subjects, a multipurpose hall, library, canteen, administration facilities, a covered outdoor learning area (COLA), sports courts and playing fields.
The Leppington-Catherine Field area was identified as one of the top 10 student growth areas in the Department of Education’s 2024 Enrolment Growth Audit, with its student population almost tripling from 2018 to 2023.
The new high school will accommodate the increase in enrolments in the area, and will be master planned for future growth, allowing families to conveniently access educational facilities close to home.
Planning approval for the new high school is expected in mid-2025. A tender for constructing the school was released to market in December 2024, with the construction to start later this year.
The school is one of many new and upgraded schools the Minns Labor Government is delivering in Sydney’s growing South West, along with:
- Austral Public School upgrade
- Dalmeny Public School upgrade
- Eagle Vale High School - selective sports stream upgrade
- Edmondson Park - new high school
- Gledswood Hills – new high school
- Greenway Park Public School upgrade and new public preschool
- Leppington Public School upgrade and new public preschool
These projects are part of the Minns Labor Government’s record $8.9 billion investment to deliver new and upgraded schools across NSW, including a record $3.6 billion for schools in Western Sydney.
The plans for the new high school for Leppington and Denham Court are now available for viewing via the NSW Planning Portal. The exhibition closes on Thursday, 20 March 2025.
