Resources for schools and P&C Associations
Parents are the first and continuing educators of their children. Research shows parental engagement in their children’s education significantly improves student outcomes. Building healthy, respectful relationships is everyone’s responsibility and schools, in close partnership with parents, have a vital and specific responsibility.
Building Productive Partnerships
The department and the P&C Federation NSW have developed a resource to help schools and local P&C Associations collaborate effectively together.
Building Productive Partnerships is the first joint initiative that follows the launch of the department's formal partnership agreement with the P&C Federation in August 2023. It aims to strengthen the working relationship by clarifying each other’s roles and responsibilities.
The resource features presentation materials that schools can use at P&C meetings and examples of great collaborative practice that highlight the benefits of working together and strategies for success.
Building Productive Partnerships is one of a range of initiatives that the department is developing to enhance parent and carer engagement in NSW Public Schools.

Local P&C Association members who would like to work with the Building Productive Partnerships resources should speak with their principal or visit the P&C Federation’s member portal to access.
P&C Associations play a valuable role in creating warm, welcoming school environments and promoting the interests of our schools by bringing parents, citizens, students and school staff into close cooperation.
