The 2023 NSW Training Awards ceremony was held on 15 September 2023 at Sydney Town Hall and saw several students from EPP schools win their categories. The EPP has been pivotal in providing students with a range of vocational training and employment options.
Aaliyah Morley from Peel High School won the 2023 NSW Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Student of the Year award. Aaliyah has shown exceptional skills, innovation and dedication and is currently studying for her HSC along with using her Certificate III in School Based Education Support to work at a local primary school, running her own cultural activities during recess and lunch.
Another winner in the awards was Elizabeth King from Oxley High School. Elizabeth won the NSW VET in School Student of the Year award, and would one day like to use her Certificate III in Health Services Assistance as a step towards becoming a nurse. Elizabeth juggled obtaining her qualification with her final years in high school. She had great encouragement and support from both her school and also from TAFE NSW who played a large part in fostering her passion for nursing.
Congratulations to all of the winners on their success and their commitment to learning. Aaliyah will be going to Nationals in the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Student of the Year category and we wish her luck!
