NAPLAN
The National Assessment Program – Literacy and Numeracy (NAPLAN) is an annual and nationwide literacy and numeracy assessment for students in Years 3, 5, 7 and 9.

Information about NAPLAN
NAPLAN takes place every year in March and measures students' fundamental literacy and numeracy skills in Years 3, 5, 7 and 9.
In 2025, NAPLAN will be held 12-24 March.
The Australian Curriculum Assessment and Reporting Authority (ACARA) is responsible for developing and reporting on NAPLAN throughout Australia. Find out more about NAPLAN at ACARA NAPLAN.
The NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA) is the Test Administration Authority (TAA) responsible for NAPLAN in NSW.

Information for NSW public schools
Schools need to prepare for NAPLAN by checking technical requirements and becoming familiar with the functions and tools of the online test.
NSW public school staff can learn more about preparation requirements at NAPLAN (staff only).
Training for schools is provided by NESA. Schools should check the NESA training and preparation activities for staff and student preparation options. Training is encouraged for all school staff involved with the administration of NAPLAN and refresher training for previously trained staff is highly recommended.
