Mycenae and Carthage – weapons and warfare

A historical inquiry unit including a collection of resources and assessments to support students in identifying and categorising Mycenaean weaponry and the life of a Mycenaean solider.

A ten week learning sequence including four lessons integrated for an assessment task.

Support students in identifying and categorising Mycenaean weaponry, warfare and the life of Mycenaean or Carthaginian soldiers.

Assessment

Students are to undertake historical inquiry which encourages engagement with sources and develops their ability to apply perspective in forming judgements about the past. There are two parts to this assessment task.

Part A (25 marks) – Create a museum exhibit of 5 sources which reflect the life of a Mycenaean or Carthaginian soldier.

Part B – written report (25 marks) – Students are asked to imagine to respond to a written prompt.

Time should be allocated in class to complete this assessment task.
