Student Proficiency Standards report
What does the report provide?
Starting in 2023, ACARA (Australian Curriculum, Assessment and Reporting Authority) introduced proficiency standards with student achievement now shown against 4 levels of proficiency, replacing the previous 10-band structure.
The Student Proficiency Standards report will provide schools with information on student performance against the new proficiency standards (Exceeding, Strong, Developing, and Needs additional support).
Note: only students who participated in at least one NAPLAN domain are present.
Data from the table can be exported in Excel or a Comma Separated Values (CSV) file for local analysis.
How to use this report
Use the slicers at the top of the report to select a cohort and filter the data for further analysis:
- What school were they in?
- What assessment? (NAPLAN 3, 5, 7 or 9)
- What assessment year was it? (eg. 2023)
- Which domain? (Read, Writing, Spelling, Grammar & Punctuation, Numeracy)
- What class group?
- What participation type? (Present or alternate format)

Multirow cards
The blue multirow card displays a summary of your report information. To view all data, use the scroll bar on the right side, or select the Focus mode button to expand the table.
What should I look for?
The report provides users with an assessment of the potential needs of individual students, a cohort or a class group to support their learning.
Look for students whose performance in one domain of NAPLAN is vastly different from the other domains. Such discrepancies can help teaching staff identify strengths and areas of need for students and flag areas where further investigation of student needs is required.
Note: NAPLAN scores in 2023 and onwards are not comparable to the previous NAPLAN scale (2008-2022). From 2023, NAPLAN results are reported against 4 proficiency standard levels rather than numerical bands and national minimum standards.
Where does this data come from?
NAPLAN, Student Enrolments
How frequently is data updated?
Bi-annually, including the preliminary NAPLAN dataset and the final NAPLAN dataset.
