HS301 Science Learning Hub - (Small)
The Science Learning Hub contains specialised spaces equipped for the teaching and learning of Science subjects. The integrated design enables ease of movement between practical activities and general learning spaces for theory. The shared laboratory maximises the use of specialised science equipment.

Secondary School (Small/Stream 6)
- The science GLS is intended to be used as a theory learning space, adjacent to the science laboratory.
- A science GLS with demonstration bench includes a wet area, with camera and display, an extension table and sufficient student desks and chairs to enable a class group to be seated.
- The science laboratories are an integral part of the science learning hub for practical teaching and learning. The laboratories are designed to support explore, investigate, create, fabricate, and construct activities.
- Fixed workstations and services are complemented by movable extension tables enabling teachers to develop a variety of working groups. Workbenches, laboratory facilities, sinks, a fume cupboard, and a safety shower are to be provided.
- Direct access between the laboratories and the preparation space is required.
- The science multi-purpose space is a ‘break out’ area, suitable for individual use to medium sized groups.
- The botany/zoology room houses plants and/or animal specimens. Sunlight access is desirable for plant growth.
- The chemical store room is dedicated to the bulk storage of hazardous products.
- The apparatus and equipment store room requires direct access from the preparation room and is fitted out with mobile steel shelving (compactus) for the storage of apparatus and equipment used within the science learning hub. Wet and dry benching should be provided for long term experiments.

The Science General Learning Space with Demonstration Bench is an adaptable learning space that accommodates a Science Demonstration Bench with wet area, overhead mirror and extension table and sufficient student desks and chairs to enable a class group to be seated.
The Shared Science Laboratory is a large special purpose learning space for the practical teaching and learning of science. Workbenches, laboratory facilities, sinks, a fume cupboard and a safety shower are provided.
The Multi Purpose Space is a small learning room with desks and chairs for individual to medium sized groups.
The Science Preparation room is a supplementary support space to the Science Laboratory. Fixtures, tables, workbenches and cupboards are provided for the preparation of science experiments and the storage, cleaning and preparation, cleaning of science materials, apparatus and equipment.
The Apparatus Store Room is dedicated to the storage of apparatus and equipment used within the Science Laboratory and Preparation room. Benches and shelving units are provided.
The Apparatus Storage is an alcove off the Science Preparation room. The alcove contains mobile steel shelving (compactus) for the storage of apparatus and equipment used within the Science Learning Unit. Wet and dry benching should be provided for long term experiments.
The Chemical Store Room is dedicated to the bulk storage of hazardous products in the Science Learning Unit.
The Botany/Zoology Room is a special purpose room for the housing of plants and/or animals. The room has special shelving, a sink, cleaning and maintenance fixtures for plants/animals.
