HS306 Performing Arts Learning Hub - (Medium)
The Performing Arts Hub caters for Dance, Drama and Music. The integrated design enables ease of movement between practical activities and general learning spaces for theory. These spaces have the potential for out of hours use by the community.

Secondary School (Medium/Stream 9)
- Multi-purpose facilities for health, physical education, dance, drama and music. May be used after school hours for rehearsal and/or shared with the community.
- Direct access and visual connection between the GLSs (theory) and the workshop and multi-purpose spaces (practical) is required. Internal glazing may be appropriate to allow visual surveillance across the hub, as small groups break out to rehearse in different areas. In this learning unit – theory and practice are integrated activities and use of the GLS, workshop and multi-purpose space is continuous.
- This learning hub should be located in close proximity to change facilities, as student activities in the workshop and multi-purpose spaces may require a change into specialised clothing.
- The workshop provides a multi-purpose learning space equipped for creative and performing arts, to participate in rehearsal and perform in a range of activities including dance, drama or other related activities such as yoga.
- One mirrored wall, a ballet barre, lighting bar at high level, and capacity for performance lighting and sound control systems is required.
- Teachers report safe dance practice requires a sprung timber floor - a WHS provision.
- Storage is required for dance and performance, and more secure storage for musical instruments and technical equipment which are fragile, bulky and high capital cost items.

Rooms included in this hub
The General Learning Space is an adaptable learning space that accommodates a teacher’s desk and sufficient student desks and chairs to enable all to be seated.
The Shared Performing Arts Workshop is a large learning and teaching space that provides seating for a class group. There is also space for a performance area. Several tables, curtains, an exercise bar and large mirrors on two opposite sides of the room are provided. Overhead lighting tracks and glazing are also provided.
The Multi Purpose Space Room is a small, multipurpose learning room with desks and chairs for individual to medium sized groups.
Storage is dedicated to the storage of learning resources and equipment used within General Learning Spaces. This room is predominantly for teacher use.
