Distance Education Review 2025

The NSW Department of Education conducted a comprehensive review of distance education in NSW. The purpose of the review was to identify the strengths, gaps and opportunities to enhance educational provision in NSW public schools with a strong focus on access and equity for students. The review highlighted best practice in teaching and learning, resources and professional learning for teachers currently being delivered in distance education. The unique and complex circumstances affecting the delivery of distance education in NSW were also considered to identify options to develop an approach that ensures all students can access best practice modes of delivery.

The review was conducted from June 2024 to March 2025 through consultation with key members of the education community including distance education principals and key education partners across the state.

The department is committed to ensuring a consistent, evidence informed, high quality learning experience for every student across the provision.
