Funding notices - frequently asked questions
Answers to frequently asked questions from the Supporting Early Childhod Teaching (ECT) Scholars: Understanding Funding Notices webinar on 11 November 2024.
Every scholar’s Funding Notice is unique to their circumstances and based on the information you have given us. While you may have a similar study journey to other scholars, no 2 scholars have identical circumstances.
A Funding Notice is provided to you as part of the onboarding process and after you provide evidence of your full course progress. Please look for emails from ecec.scholarships@det.nsw.edu.au and search for the term 'Funding Notice' or 'Revised Funding Notice'.
Emails may land in your Junk folder. To avoid this happening in the future, please add ecec.scholarships@det.nsw.edu.au as a contact.
If you still cannot find your Funding Notice, please email ecec.scholarships@det.nsw.edu.au.
If at the time of onboarding, you were not yet enrolled, then you would have signed a Deed of Agreement without a Funding Notice. The Funding Notice will be issued once you provide your full transcript. This may be submitted in any payment request periods – February, July and November.
Please note for 2023/24 scholarship recipients you must submit your full transcript within 12 months of the date of your scholarship award letter was issued.
There are 3 payment submission request rounds per year – February, July, and November. The November 2024 payment round is now closed, and scholars will be notified when the next payment round opens in February 2025.
For scholars who did not have relevant documentation to make a request when the payment submission request round was open, you may submit when the next round is open.
If you are eligible for multiple milestone payments, SmartyGrants allow you to apply for multiple payments.

For all the scholars whose timings are not aligned with the 3 payment request periods, you can submit in the next payment request period. Due to the wide range of universities with different census dates, the payment request timing may not suit everyone to submit at the same time. We understand this may be inconvenient for some scholars and appreciate your flexibility.
ECEC Scholarships are issued for ACECQA-approved qualifications, visit their website to access the list. To maintain your scholarship, scholars must ensure the qualification is on this list before seeking to transfer. Scholars should seek approval from the department prior to changing their course or university as it may affect the scholarship eligibility and/or award amount.
TIP: Ensure that 'Qualification level' is filtered to ECT as ACECQA have approved courses that are not eligible for award under the ECT scholarship program.
It is the scholar’s responsibility to be enrolled in an eligible course as per the ACECQA- approved list. Scholars can email the scholarship team at ecec.scholarships@det.nsw.edu.au for further questions.
No, we only need to see your full transcript to generate your Funding Notice.
There are a few reasons why this you may see $0 against a milestone payment. If you are a 2023/24 scholar and part of your units of study is Recognised Prior Learning (RPL), then this will appear as $0 until your transcript has shown you have completed subjects to receive milestone payments.
For scholars awarded before 2023/24, any milestones showing $0 would reflect units completed before award or units being completed by RPL. Earlier programs did not include payment for RPL.
Yes, you can request multiple milestone and practical payments in the same round. Payment outcomes will be informed by the request you make and the information available in your transcript provided.
For practical payments, the unit should appear as either 'enrolled' in current academic year or 'passed' if being requested after your scholarship award date. Your award date can be found on your Deed of Agreement.
Please email us on ecec.scholarships@det.nsw.edu.au and we can investigate this for you.
If you did not meet the criteria for a payment in the July 2024 payment request round, you would have received an email notification in late October 2024. If you were not successful in previous rounds, we encourage you to review the payment request guidelines and submit in the next payment request round.
