How do I get a proficiency (or trade) certificate

When you complete the term of your training contract (the employer agrees that you have successfully completed your on the job training), you are eligible to receive a formal certificate from Training Services NSW.

Proficiency Certificate

This certificate is awarded to apprentices and trainees who successfully complete the term of their training contract (the employer agrees that you have successfully completed your on the job training) and have been awarded the appropriate qualification by their registered training organisation.

Upgrade your certificate

A Craft Certificate or a Completion Certificate can be upgraded to a Certificate of Proficiency.

You need to:

  • achieve all the competencies in your training plan
  • receive the appropriate qualification by your registered training organisation.

How to get your certificate

Your certificate will be sent to you automatically once your employer has responded to Training Services NSW request for confirmation that you have succeeded on the job.

You will need to contact Training Services NSW to upgrade your certificate if you require. For this you'll need to supply a copy of the qualification document issued by your Registered Training Organisation.
