About the Teach and Learn Scholarship (Specialist Teaching Areas)

Financial support
  • $20,000 per year of full-time study
  • Paid study leave whilst completing a practicum and up to 8 additional days of study leave per academic year.
Professional Development
  • Upskill as a Teacher Librarian, Careers Adviser or English as an Additional Language/Dialect teacher
Transferrable skills
  • Develop transferrable skills that will enable you to teach in a variety of school settings
Eligibility
  • Temporary teachers who hold a current permanent teaching approval with the NSW Department of Education
  • Permanent teachers with the NSW Department of Education

Temporary Teachers

The Teach and Learn Scholarship (Specialist Teaching Areas) for Temporary Teachers – Scholarships for studies commencing in Semester 1, 2025 are available for teachers currently employed in a temporary specialist teaching position (minimum 0.6 FTE) or relieving in a specialist teaching position (minimum 0.6 FTE).

Appointed Teachers

The Teach and Learn Scholarship (Specialist Teaching Areas) for Appointed Teachers – Scholarships are available for teachers recommended for a permanent specialist teaching position (minimum 0.6 FTE) following merit selection or permanently appointed to a specialist teaching position (minimum 0.6 FTE) and who are required to undertake further studies as a condition of employment.

There is no closing date for the appointed teachers pathway. Applications are accepted all year round.
