- explicitly addresses all outcomes for each stage of learning
- identifies assessment tasks and when they will occur within the sequence of learning
- reflects the needs, interests and abilities of all students
- identifies key concepts and skills as well as the content focus of each unit of work
- reflects the recursive nature of learning, providing opportunities to revisit outcomes over the stage
- allows for and works around school-based events
- builds in flexibility to ensure equitable access to resources
- coordinates with scope and sequences for other key learning areas
