Continuing Apprentices and Trainees Placement Service (CAPS)

Are you looking to finish your apprenticeship or traineeship? The Continuing Apprentices and Trainees Placement Service (CAPS) helps apprentices and trainees find jobs or continue with their qualification when their training contract ends before completion.

CAPS is free and supports your journey of learning. Let us help you find an employer who is seeking your skills.

When to use CAPS

If you are an apprentice or trainee, CAPS can support you if:

  • You are an apprentice or trainee registered in NSW
  • Have previously undertaken an apprenticeship or traineeship, and your training contract ended before completion.

How CAPS works

Apprentices and Trainees

Once you have registered for CAPS through the online registration form, you will receive a confirmation email from the CAPS team within 3 business days.

When you register, Training Services will review your details and training needs and provide you with a unique ID. Your personal information is kept secure, and we do not store or share your resumes or any previous job details.

Employers seeking apprentices or trainees can access the CAPS register to find suitable candidates and register their job vacancies. We will verify the employer's information before sharing your details. If they express interest, they will contact you directly, following standard hiring procedures, and may offer a new training contract.

Please ensure that you continue to look for jobs as signing up won’t guarantee a job straight away, but it will support the process. Keep up with your formal training to refine your skills through your Registered Training Organisation (RTO). This will improve your job prospects and keep you engaged in the workforce.

Employers

Employers looking for an apprentice/trainee need to register through the online registration form. Once we receive your registration and it has been approved, you will have access to the CAPS register, where you can find suitable candidates and register any job vacancies within your organisation.

If you find a suitable candidate through the CAPS register, we will verify your information before sharing further details with you. If you express interest in a candidate, please contact them directly and ensure you follow standard hiring procedures if you will be offering a new training contract.

Financial assistance for apprentices

If you secure a job through CAPS that requires relocation, you may be eligible to receive up to $2,500 for relocation expenses. To determine your eligibility, visit our financial assistance page.
