Walking Together, Working Together 2020-2030 DoE and NSW AECG Partnership
Rationale
This resource unpacks the key elements of Walking Together, Working Together 2020- 2030, the Partnership Agreement between the NSW Department of Education and the NSW Aboriginal Education Consultative Group Inc. (NSW AECG). The Agreement encourages schools and community to walk and work together, listening to the voices of our Aboriginal students, communities and staff. The aim to continue to build on the successes that have been achieved to date and to ensure every Aboriginal child and young person in NSW achieves their potential through education. It is through collaborative consultation and the development of equal partnerships that a shared vision to improve educational outcomes for Aboriginal students will be strengthened. The Partnership Agreement was launched on the 23 October 2020. The video recording of the launch can be accessed via the Walking Together, Working Together webpage. This resource aims to deepen understanding of the purpose of this Partnership Agreement and the process of development.

The Partnership Agreement Walking Together, Working Together guides a ten-year plan, from 2020- 2030.
Intended audience:
The applicable audience of the Partnership Agreement is outlined in the attached resource, along with the responsibility of all stakeholders to contribute to meeting the needs of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander children and young people.

The department will provide Aboriginal cultural education for all staff and education about Aboriginal Australia for all students, as it is everybody’s business. The strength, diversity, ownership and richness of Aboriginal cultures and custodianship of country are respected, valued and promoted. The department is committed to collaborative decision making with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, parents, caregivers, families and their communities.
