Careers Adviser Mentoring Program

Current experienced school-based careers advisers, develop your leadership and communication skills as a mentor for new careers advisers.

Careers Adviser Mentoring Program

The Careers Adviser Mentoring Program supports experienced school-based careers advisers who want to develop their mentoring skills and are committed to working with a mentee throughout the program. It offers a blend of live and on-demand learning, along with intersessional activities, guided by experienced leaders from the Career and Workplace Learning (CWL) team and the NSW School Leadership Institute (SLI).

This program not only links participants to the Lead and Aspire Mentoring Program (LAMP) but also delivers tailored support specifically for careers advisers. Key features include:

  • Matching mentors with mentees to foster targeted development.
  • One day in person workshop delivered contextualising mentoring for career education.
  • Additional guidance and resources from the CWL team
  • Ongoing assistance throughout the program to ensure participants succeed in their mentoring roles.

To join the Careers Adviser Mentoring Program, mentors must express their interest via the outlined application process. Successful applicants will be automatically enrolled in the LAMP program, with the CWL team handling their registration directly with the NSW School Leadership Institute.

Preference will be given to careers advisers with more than three years’ experience in this role. Program participants will participate in professional learning and facilitated networking, whilst mentoring new careers advisers.

NOTE: participants MUST be available for all Career and Workplace Learning and LAMP professional learning sessions.

Mentee expression of interest (EOI)

The EOI for this program will open in May. This information is provided to help careers advisers consider their participation and seek the necessary approval to apply.

We are inviting expressions of interest from new careers advisers eager to join this program. If accepted, you will be matched with an experienced careers adviser participating in the Careers Adviser Mentoring Program. Your role as a mentee will be to actively engage with your mentor to receive tailored support and guidance based on your needs. There is no requirement for mentees to participate in parts of the program that are only intended for mentors.

Preference will be given to careers advisers with less than three years of experience in the role.

To express your interest, complete the 2025 Careers Adviser Mentee EOI form.
