Professional experience hub schools

A Professional Experience Hub is a centre of excellence for professional experience. In collaboration with a university partner, Hubs:

• Advocate for professional experience being a shared responsibility for preparing future teachers that benefits teachers, schools and the system as a whole

• Provide consistent high quality professional experiences for all preservice teachers, supervising teachers and initial teacher education providers in our sphere of influence

• Lead school based research that informs innovation in professional experience

• Share knowledge and support a network of schools to strengthen the quality of professional experience

- Focus on strengthening and supporting subject matter expertise in the designated area of workforce need.

As part of their initial teacher education course, every pre-service teacher is required to complete between 60 and 80 days of practical experience in a school. This is known as professional experience and may include teaching practice, supervised practical teaching experience, and final placement internship.

We support high standards of professional experience for pre-service teachers who are studying an initial teacher education course.

The Professional Experience Hub School Program supports schools to lead best practice professional experience. The Professional Experience Hubs focus on producing innovative and sustainable quality professional experience practices to share with other schools across the state.

Hub schools are experts

Our 20 Hubs focus on professional experience. These schools have particular expertise and great experience in looking after professional experience for pre-service teachers.
