About this report
The Reading and Numeracy (R&N) guided data package shows how the school has performed in reading and numeracy focus areas. It also includes performance against English and mathematics syllabus outcomes and links to relevant teaching strategies.
Note: This report is based on the assessment school. It displays aggregated results from all students who participated in the NAPLAN assessment at the school.
How will this report benefit me?
The R&N guided data package allows schools to analyse their NAPLAN performance in each focus area of the assessment for reading and numeracy. This can pinpoint strengths and/or gaps in student achievement. For example, a school may perform exceptionally well in items assessing particular focus areas indicating strength in the teaching of those topics or skills. It may also help a school identify a focus area that requires further attention differentiated teaching or further investigation.

Use the slicers provided to filter and further analyse the data:

Definition of item contribution and correct/incorrect response |

Item contribution refers to the total number of items asked across all students in the school. It does not necessarily refer to the number of students. Similarly, the correct and incorrect response percentages refer to the proportion of the total number of items in the item contribution list answered correctly/incorrectly. |

This chart displays the percentage of items presented to students that align to a particular syllabus outcome. It also displays the proportion of questions answered correctly to a particular syllabus outcome.

This chart displays the percentage of items presented to students that align to a particular focus area. It also displays the proportion of questions answered incorrectly to a particular focus area.

How can I use this report to support my school self-assessment?
This report can support schools in understanding the effectiveness of teaching strategies at the school level. It assists schools with Assessment and Reporting, Student Performance Measures, Effective Classroom Practice, and Data Skills and uses elements of the SEF.
What should I look for?
- Focus areas where there is a larger proportion of items that have been answered incorrectly. These may point to gaps in student understanding and the need for targeted teaching of that focus area.
- Syllabus outcomes where there is a larger proportion of items answered incorrectly. These may point to gaps in student understanding and the need for targeted teaching of that outcome.
- The % item contribution shows the focus areas and syllabus outcomes, which students are asked more frequently in NAPLAN.
