Policy and procedure guidance for ECE services and providers
The NSW Department of Education provides policy and procedure guidelines to help early childhood education and care services and educators to ensure the safety, health and wellbeing of children.
Policies and procedures in services should be read, understood and implemented by all staff employed by a service to ensure that you are meeting all legislative requirements. They can also help to inform families about how the service operates and expectations that families can have to ensure the health, safety and wellbeing of their children.
These resources are intended as a template to inform best practice in early childhood education and care settings. They include easy-to-follow steps and wording to support services to meet legislative requirements. These resources are presented as guidelines and are not an exact format that must be followed. They have been designed as a starting point to help you develop policies and procedures relevant to your individual service acknowledging your own context, service users, service type and operating model.
