Syllabus
The new Technology 7–8 Syllabus (2023) is to be implemented from 2026.
2024 and 2025 – Plan and prepare to teach the new syllabus.
2026 – Start teaching new syllabus.
School sectors are responsible for implementing syllabuses and are best placed to provide schools with specific guidance and information on implementation given their understanding of their individual contexts.
Scope and sequences
These scope and sequences are planning documents that show examples of how the course may be delivered in term and semester length units. The scope and sequences show the organisation of the content, highlight the skills and outcomes covered and indicate content including practical projects.
10-week units
These programs are designed to be completed over approximately 10 weeks in 60-minute lesson sequences but can be adapted to suit the school context.
This program of learning addresses the food and agricultural focus area. The lessons and sequences in this program of learning are designed to allow students to develop their practical food preparation skills in line with their food based knowledge.

This program of learning addresses the ‘Food and agricultural practices’ focus area. The lessons and sequences in this program are designed to allow students to develop safe practical skills in horticulture while learning about new and emerging agricultural practices in Australia.
20-week units
These programs are designed to be completed over approximately 20 weeks in 60-minute lesson sequences but can be adapted to suit the school context.
This program of learning addresses the materials focus area with a focus on textiles. The lessons and sequences in this program of learning are designed to allow students to develop their practical textile skills in line with designing a product and knowledge of materials and production processes.
