Scout for non-NSW Department of Education schools
Information about the Scout reporting tool for Catholic Schools (CS), Independent Schools (AIS) and ACT Government and Independent Schools.
NSW Department of Education staff can find information to access Scout in the Scout section.
Access and support
A selected range of Scout reports may be accessed by Catholic, Independent, and ACT schools. Users must be eligible and trained to use Scout reports.

Catholic Schools (CS)
Catholic Schools staff members are provided access through CSNSW systems. Please contact your support team for assistance.
Scout training and support
Catholic Schools (both systemic and RI/MPJP) should contact service@csnsw.catholic.edu.au for Scout support and information regarding training.
NSW Independent Schools (AIS)
Access Scout
AIS schools must have an active Department of Education (DoE) Extranet account to access Scout. Once registered, Scout access will be active after 1-2 days.
To renew/reactivate your DoE Extranet account
- Teachers: Contact school Principals or their delegates to have your account renewed or reactivated and to reset your password.
- Principals: Contact your sector support on the email listed below.
Scout training and support
Scout training and support for NSW independent schools will be provided by The Association of Independent Schools of NSW. For enquiries, email NAPLANreporting@aisnsw.edu.au.
ACT Government and Independent Schools
Access Scout
All schools in ACT need an active Department of Education (DoE) Extranet account to access Scout. Once registered, Scout access will be active after 1-2 days.

Scout training and support enquiries for all schools located in ACT will be provided by the Education Directorate. For enquiries, email ETDassessments@act.gov.au.

Scout is an education reporting tool that provides accurate, secure and accessible data in one central place.
Scout provides users with relevant reports and tools to make well-informed, evidence-based decisions. It draws data from over 150 sources, both within and outside the NSW Department of Education.
Teachers can use Scout to review and monitor student assessment results, growth, and performance trends.
Scout data helps identify student strengths and areas for improvement. This helps teachers to better plan their classes.

Privacy
All Scout users must adhere to NSW privacy laws. By accessing Scout data, you agree to:
Treat the data as personal and sensitive.
Exercise caution and sound judgement when discussing personal information with others.
Seek permission from the data owner through Scout support before publishing information sourced from Scout.
Not leave Scout open in the browser when away from your desk.
Report any suspected data breaches to Scout support immediately.

This system provides information from various department and non-department sources. The reports and capabilities provided are intended to assist you in making informed decisions about the activities you are responsible for.
Data accuracy
Efforts are made to improve the accuracy of the information provided. However, due to the large number of disparate information sources, some inaccuracies may exist. Please report any data inaccuracies so they can be resolved. Note that data is drawn from underlying source systems, so errors must be corrected within those systems.
Data privacy
In accessing data in Power BI, you are bound by NSW privacy laws. Requirements for using and disclosing personal information apply to all personal information held by the department. Data is used with the permission of the Data Owners.
