Live Life Well @ School
Live Life Well @ School is a collaborative initiative of the NSW Department of Education and NSW Ministry of Health. Live Life Well @ School promotes healthy eating and physical activity to students.
Students who are active and eat well have better learning outcomes and improved overall health and wellbeing.
What does Live Life Well @ School do?
Live Life Well @ School supports schools to develop whole school strategies to improve the teaching of nutrition and physical education through a focus on PDHPE, the fostering of community partnerships that promote and support whole of school strategies and the provision of opportunities for more students to be more active, more often.
Life Life Well @ School assists schools with evidence based supports to:
- provide children with opportunities to consume vegetables and/or fruit and drink water at school
- encourage school canteens to provide food and drinks consistent with the NSW Health School Canteen Strategy
- provide opportunities for children to learn, practise and master fundamental movement skills
- provide supporting environments for physical activities
- promote active travel to and from school.
How can schools can get involved?
- Schools are encourage to contact their local Health Promotion Officer in their Local Health District office.
- Health Promotion Officers will work closely with schools to help them plan and implement practices that promote physical activity and healthy eating.
- Health Promotion Officers can introduce teachers to a range of practical tools, resources and ideas to support physical activity and healthy eating, across the school context.
